Where are you Located?
I live in Provo, UT, but travel to Gilbert, AZ twice a month for shoots and to visit family.
What kind of shoots do you like to do most?
I love telling a story. So, lifestyle would probably be my forte. I love births, traveling, humanitarian work, and product stories!
How long have you had your business?
I started Tell The Birds photography in 2012 and then grew it into video in 2014 .
Where did you get “Tell the Birds”?
My grandpa gave me my first camera when I was 12 or 13 and whenever I think of that set of grandparents, I think of birds because my grandma collects all things birdlike, so they’re all over her house and I LOVED them growing up. So I wanted to make sure it was something with my grandparents, and something free and flighty, like my personality!
I never wanted my business name to be my name because I’ve always wanted to be able to grow and make it a company with employees. Honestly, I love hearing how people interpret it! So many people take it differently, so I’d love to keep it at that! OPEN TO INTERPRETATION!
Where do you get your music?
I usually get my songs licensed through The Music Bed
Do you travel?

What advice would you give to an aspiring videographer/photographer?
When just getting started, shoot everything. Don’t give yourself a label yet (“I only do weddings, I only do music videos…etc.”). Get to know all kinds of shoots, get your name around, and get a feel for what you like.
When I first started out, I just wanted to do weddings, but now, I love doing companies and products. However, I have the skills and experience to do other things when tough times come and I need a job doing any kind of shoot!
Don’t be afraid to experiment. Come up with a weird idea or story, Get some friends together and spend the day filming it! Don’t compare yourself to others! This profession is growing and its easy to look at someone else’s stuff and wish yours looked like theirs, but from my experience, I’ve learned to get you own look, and OWN IT!
This is a SHARING COMMUNITY! Don’t be selfish with your knowledge, ideas, or inspiration! We are all out to make beautiful things, so share your locations, what you use, and how you do it. People want to know how to get involved. When i was younger, my sisters would copy me and i would get so upset, but my mom always told me that it was a compliment. They want to be like you if they are copying you! Be flattered! Help people out, give advice, collaborate! It’s such a fun inspiring community! Enjoy it! Don’t get caught up in the number of social media followers or likes. Be YOU, and LOVE IT!
